The Kansas Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Commission has designated Great Wolf LodgeŽ in Kansas City, Kansas, as its official "Embassy on the Plains." Great Wolf Lodge made a significant contribution to become the corporate Ambassador and lead sponsor of the Commission. As
Embassy, Great Wolf Lodge will host visiting dignitaries and serve as a
central communications point for the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial commemoration
in Kansas. Guests arriving at the embassy will be greeted by the colorful
display of 29 flags representing many of the tribes encountered by Lewis
and Clark. In
addition to the display of flags, Great Wolf Lodge is installing an interactive
touchscreen computer monitor in its lobby where guests can access information
about the Lewis and Clark Trail in Kansas. The resort's corporate sponsorship
will contribution will also allow Kansas Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Commission
to complete major infrastructure projects, including the installation of
interactive computer touch screen monitors in parks on the Missouri River
in Kansas City, Leavenworth and Atchison. When travelers access monitors
at any of those three satellite locations, they will learn about free Lewis
and Clark souvenirs available to children who visit Great Wolf Lodge. Great
Wolf Lodge staff members will serve as Ambassadors for the Lewis and Clark
Bicentennial in Kansas. Staff will receive training about Lewis and Clark
bicentennial events and sites in Kansas, as well as cultural sensitivity
training about Native American issues and participation in the Lewis and
Clark commemoration. In
June and July, children's storytelling sessions at Great Wolf Lodge will
include Native American stories and guest story readers from Native American
communities across the State of Kansas.Tribal Nations | Education | About Us | Related Links |
